Current Research

  1. Exploring Future Nurses Attitudes and Beliefs Related to Childhood Obesity
Collaborators: Snethen, Julia A; Buseh, Aaron G; Ruth
  2. Parental Views of Promoting Family Health through Worksite Wellness
Focus groups will be conducted to gain insight into employee-perspectives that are pertinent to the project. We anticipate conducting 3 to 10 focus groups with 5-12 participants each. Efforts will be made to ensure perspectives from diverse groups of employed parents. The focus groups will be conducted to gain insight into employed parents perspectives on the issues of wellness and perceived health promotion needs of families and to assess concepts related to obesity in children through recruiting from existing corporate channels. The focus groups will be conducted in the setting most convenient for participants, which could vary to include one or more of the YMCA sites, interested business sites, or at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Building on the information obtained from the focus groups, a survey instrument will be developed, which will be used to explore perspectives of a wider group of employed parents. To the extent feasible, the survey will be delivered electronically using Qualtrics survey system, however, to ensure a wide range of perspectives and a high response rate is obtained, surveys may also be administered through paper questionnaires. To the extent possible, we will access employees with children through existing corporate channels. Inclusion criteria for the survey will be parents of children
