Dr. Kay Jansen is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing. She is a credentialed specialist in adult psychiatric-mental health nursing and has worked in a variety of settings, including acute inpatient, outpatient, home care, and community with adults and older adults. She has provided consultation and education to practicing nurses and researchers working with people who have experienced mental illness. Her research/scholarship has focused on hospital readmission and health care informatics. Her areas of expertise include psychiatric-mental health nursing and nursing informatics.

Dr. Jansen is currently funded by the International Council of Nurses (ICN), in Geneva Switzerland, as the Terminology Director of the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®) Programme.
