Patti Fischer, MSN, RN
Clinical Assistant Professor
Cunningham Hall 571
My professional speciality is Medical Surgical Nursing/Leadership & Management. I have had the opportunity to experience both the challenges and rewards of practicing clinically on a Medical Surgical Unit for 10 Years as a staff nurse. With ten years of experience as a medical/surgical nurse I began a journey through a variety of leadership experiences. The majority of my leadership experience occurred when I had the opportunity to dedicate 15 years of my professional career in a leadership role as the Director of Medical Surgical service at a local hospital.
While employed at UWM College of Nursing, I have had the opportunity to teach in all levels of the nursing program. Some of the courses I’ve taught include Foundations of Clinical Practice I & II, Nursing Practice I & II clinical and Practice, Research and Leadership Role Development I & II for senior students. I also serve in a leadership role at the College of Nursing as the 4B Level Coordinator for second semester senior students.
I am also proud to say I am a member of the Honor Society of Nursing – Sigma Theta Tau International and currently serve as a Faculty Counselor on the board of UWM’s – Eta Nu Chapter. I am also a member of the WNA/ANA, and an active member of Wisconsin Nurses Association CEAP Committee.
