My specialty as a professional nurse is Medical Surgical Nursing. I have had the opportunity to experience both the challenges and rewards of practicing clinically on a Medical Surgical Unit for 10 Years as a staff nurse. With ten years of experience as a medical/surgical nurse I began a journey through a variety of leadership experiences.
Prior to starting my career at UWM, I had the opportunity to dedicate 15 years of my professional career providing leadership for a large staff as the Director of Medical Surgical service at a local hospital.
While employed for UWM, I have had the opportunity to teach in all levels of the nursing program. Some of the courses I’ve taught include Foundations of Clinical Practice I & II, Nursing Practice I & II clinical and Practice, Research and Leadership Role Development for senior students. Most recently I’ve been appointed a Level Coordinator position for second semester senior students.
I am proud to see I was inducted into the Honor Society of Nursing – Sigma Theta Tau International and currently serve as a Faculty Counselor on the board of UWM’s Eta Nu Chapter. I am also a member of the ANA, and an active member of Wisconsin Nurses Association CEAP Committee.
