Pre-Nursing Course Work
To prepare for admission to the major, pre-nursing students need to complete *course requirements with a "C" or better, meet 2.75 minimum GPA as calculated on pertinent courses and a minimum 2.50 science GPA. Faculty also evaluate students on their written essay, work, volunteer, leadership and other experiences. Admission to the major is competitive.
*Course requirements for pre-nursing students:
- Two semesters of Anatomy & Physiology with labs (Anatomy 234 and Physiology 235) 8 crs
- Two semesters of Chemistry with labs - General Chemistry and Biochemistry (Chemistry 125 & 203/211) 8 crs
- Microbiology with lab (Bacteriology 101) 5 crs
- Clinical Nutrition (C L Sci332) 2 crs (enroll through UWM)
- Physics 110 3 crs
- English Composition II (English 102) 3 crs
- Sociology 3 crs
- Introduction to Psychology (Psychology 201 or 202) 3-4 crs
- Human Growth and Development/Lifespan (Psychology 250) 3 crs
- Social Science Elective 3 crs
- Medical Anthropology (Anthropology 350) 3 crs
- Perspectives in Healthcare (Nursing 102) 2 crs (enroll through UWM)
- Nursing Research (Nursing 300) 2 crs (enroll through UWM)
- Total of 48 credits
General Education Requirements/GER
Students need to complete UWM GER credits for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and competencies. See GER list.

Competencies in math and English are based on placement scores or successful completion of appropriate courses.
- College Algebra/math 110 meets competency for UWM -OR-
- Transfer credits in math and English are evaluated by the Admissions Office for competency requirements
