Studying abroad provides students with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. It can also be one of the most rewarding and exciting experiences of a college career-getting to know another culture, living in a new environment, learning a new language and being immersed in foreign customs and traditions.
Opportunities for studying abroad are available to a wide range of destinations and for lengths of time ranging from a couple of weeks to a full academic year.
The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee's Center for International Education - Overseas Programs and Partnerships administers the programs. More information on UWM study abroad programs.
The Center for Global Health and Equity administers study abroad programs for students of nursing and other health sciences. In short-term programs to countries including South Korea, Mexico, Malawi, England, Ireland, Germany and Switzerland, participants study specific aspects of other health care systems and learn, first hand, how various organizational structures impact patient care.
