The Permanent Campaign

This project will track domestic presidential travel to account "political" patterns that reflect electoral considerations. The guiding hypotheses are (1) that presidential travel is predictable on the basis of the electoral votes and competitiveness of the states, and (2) the political nature of presidential travel has increased over time

Tasks and responsibilities:

The student will help gather information on domestic presidential travel. This will include information on where the president traveled and what the official purpose of that travel was. This will involve accessing information from the White House press office as well as the Libraries of the past several presidents.
