Energy Expenditure during Anaerobic and Aerobic Exercise

Previous work in the Human Performance Laboratory has indicated that exercise thought to be solely anaerobic may indeed utilize a great deal of oxygen. This project will expand on that work and look at oxygen utilization and muscle oxygenation during different intensities and durations of exercise. Athletes who typically perform sprint, middle and long distanced events will be used to better differentiate the energy sources of the exercise bouts.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Students will be involved in almost all phases of the project, including: recruitment and testing of subjects, setup and care of equipment, data collection and analysis.
