Development of Decision Aids and Coaching Protocol for Family Proxy Decision Makers

The overall goal of this project is to develop decision aids and decision coaching protocol for health professionals to use to guide family caregivers making medical decisions on behalf of their relatives at the end of life. The project builds on previous work by Professor Kwak with family caregivers. The proposed study will focus on (1) creating decision aids on selected end of life treatment choices such as CPR, ventilator, feeding tube, hospitalization and hospice care; and (2) pilot testing the decision aids with a small sample of family caregivers (n=4) and conducting focus groups with health care professionals about the coaching protocol and decision aids (n=4).

Tasks and responsibilities:

Assisting with entering data, running basic descriptive analysis, and literature review.
