Solid rocket motor research

This is an experimental study of a solid rocket engine project, where the student will design and construct a rocket nozzle of gas and liquid fluids. The simulation of alumina melt in a solid rocket motor will be analogously studied by using water flow. The liquid breakup up and flowing paths will be predicted inside the rocket chamber and the information gained will be used to improve a new rocket engine design.

Tasks and responsibilities:

The student will design a rocket engine nozzle and costruct for testing. The student will take measurement of velocity and pressure as well as video taping of the flow through the converging-diverging nozzle.
