Course Schedules in PantherLink Calendar

Students and faculty have access to their course schedules in the calendar portion of PantherLink.

What will I see?

After clicking on the 'calendar' button in the menu bar, you'll see an automatically generated calendar for each course you're enrolled in (or teaching) organized under the heading 'Course Schedules' in the calendars pane on the left. Clicking the checkboxes to the left of each calendar will allow you to overlay that course's meeting times on your general calendar. Double clicking one of the calendar entries will show the course's meeting location and the instructor's contact information. Note the example below:

When will I see it?

The building of the course calendars on each student/instructor's PantherLink calendar will take place over the Labor Day weekend. During that time you may see an empty 'Course Schedules' folder in your list of calendars. As the individual course calendars are built, they will appear in PantherLink. The entire process will be complete by Tuesday, September 2.

Additional information

  • Online courses will be shown as 'day events' listed on each Monday over the duration of the course. This is done because online courses do not have scheduled meeting times. Your instructor will inform you when the class will meet.
  • Course calendars will be refreshed nightly to account for adds and drops. If you drop a course or add another, your calendars will change accordingly the next day.
  • Course calendars are read-only, meaning that they cannot be edited.
  • Courses that do not have an instructor assigned to them in PAWS will not appear in your PantherLink calendar. Once an instructor is assigned, however, that calendar will appear after the nightly refresh. This should only affect a small number of courses.

What's next?

Scheduled for release later in the Fall semester, faculty will have the ability to manage their course calendars. This means that if a class is canceled or the meeting location has changed, for example, the instructor will have the ability to make that change in the course calendar. Students will then see that change reflected in their course calendar. Additionally, instructors will have the ability to add important dates/deadlines and even upload documents (e.g. review sheets) to calendar entries. Watch PantherLinkInfo.uwm.edu for more information about this added functionality.
