Welcome!
Welcome to the first issue of PantherLink Update. Updates will be sent out bi-weekly.
PantherLink Informational Web site Launched
Visit www.PantherLinkInfo.uwm.edu to see the latest information about the PantherLink project. On the site you’ll also find helpful FAQs, committee meeting minutes and news about Zimbra, the software developer.
Yahoo! to Purchase Zimbra
Yahoo! has announced its intention to purchase Zimbra, the developer of software used for PantherLink. The transaction is expected to close during the fourth quarter of this year. For more information, visit the UITS homepage and click on the news announcement about the purchase. On the announcement Web page, you’ll also find links to press releases, articles from trade magazines and Gartner’s most recent analysis dated Sept. 17.
E-mail Clean-Up Campaign
It is vital that we reduce the volume of mail being stored on the e-mail servers. To help the campus community learn the tips and techniques to manage e-mail, short courses are being offered on Oct. 16 and 26. The course materials are also now online.
Mass E-Mail Subcommittee Holds First Meeting
A subcommittee was formed and charged with developing a set of practices to guide and/or govern e-mails sent to large groups of individuals. The group held its first meeting and discussed issues such as “What constitutes a ’mass’ e-mail? Will the committee recommend guidelines or policy? What will be the scope of the recommendations — will they cover internal and/or external e-mails?” Look for more information in the meeting minutes that will be posted on the PantherLink Info Web site.
PantherLink Steering Committee Meetings Open
PantherLink Steering Committee meetings are open to the campus community.
Meetings are held on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in Chapman Hall, Room 401. Upcoming meetings are scheduled for Oct. 22, Nov. 5 and 19. Meeting minutes are available online and the PantherLink information Web site.
