PantherLink Update
June 12, 2008

Successful Launch of E-mail Service
PantherLink’s e-mail service was successfully launched to the campus community on May 30. The Help Desk reported relatively few inquiries with 67 tickets logged to the e-mail category for May 30. Some individuals reported that they were unable to access PantherLink e-mail. The majority of these inquiries were because these accounts had not yet been migrated. The e-mail team has contacted those alpha e-mail account holders and other individuals whose migration could not be completed because of other issues and are working with them to complete the migration of data from the PantherMail environment to the PantherLink servers.

Preparation for Launch of PantherLink Calendar Service
The calendar service of PantherLink is scheduled for launch June 30. Meeting calendar data will be migrated from the PantherCal environment to the PantherLink servers. During the migration, PantherCal will be unavailable. Once PantherLink calendar services are available on June 30, PantherCal will be shut down. Individuals in campus units using Exchange or GroupWise should contact their local e-mail administrator for information regarding migration to PantherLink.
The PantherLink Steering Committee has been discussing how best to display appointments in PantherLink to preserve confidentiality and privacy. Additional details will be available in an e-mail to the campus community prior to the launch. In addition, preparations are being made to migrate designate rights from PantherCal to PantherLink for those who are responsible for maintaining the calendars of others.

Training and Documentation
PantherLink E-mail, Calendar and Collaborative Features short courses have been well attended. Classes from now until late June are full. Additional classes will be held throughout July and August. Classes are free but participants must register online at the Short Course Web site.
