Often, students are unaware that concepts such as time-management, note-taking strategies, or approaches to studying play a significant role in determining academic success. It is important to remember that success in academics is often more than “just knowing the material,” but more so to do with how one approaches learning in general. Thus, the main goal of Academic Coaching is to make students aware that their learning strategies directly impact their level of academic achievement. It is this awareness that helps reinforce the necessity to dedicating time to “learning how to learn.”
Academic Coaching is an on-going program built on the fundamentals of “the process of learning.” We coach students based on the idea that success in academics is achieved as a result of approaching learning as a process. This process can be learned, refined, or maintained by participating in Academic Coaching. Students will work one-on-one with an Academic Coach to identify strengths and weakness in their learning styles:
Proper Time Management
Test Taking Skills
As a collaborative team, the student and coach work to create and implement a plan to increase academic achievement.
