Current show: Colorful Nebulas
Dates and time: 7-7:55 pm, January 22 to March 5, 2010
Location: Manfred Olson Planetarium in the Physics building
(see map).
Admission price: $2
Sometimes called stellar nurseries, nebulas are giant clouds of gas and dust where stars are born. It was once thought that our own Milky Way Galaxy was a nebula. View gorgeous images of different types of nebulas in the Universe while learning about their characteristics. (18-20 min)
As always, a portion of the show is devoted to viewing the current night sky (12-14 min). After the stargazing in our renovated theater, there is an interactive discussion of what we see due to the Earth's rotation (8-12 min) followed by a question period (5-10 min).
