Marvel at the beauty of the night sky at the UWM Manfred Olson Planetarium! Your group may attend public programs on Friday evenings, or arrange for one of our three specially designed age-appropriate programs, described below. Astronomer Jean Creighton is keen to answer your questions and share her excitement about space.

Size of Girl Scout groups:
Minimum of 5 girls and 2 adults, maximum of 40 girls and 20 adults.  Registration is required (information further down page).

Stars and Stories

WHO: GS Brownies
Be dazzled by a guided tour of the night sky at our planetarium theater and learn how to use stars to find your way.  Be inspire by the myths to create your own constellations.  Astronomer Jean Creighton shares how she got to pursue her dream career.  It's Your Story; Hiker.

Ahh-mazing Night Sky

WHO: GS Junior
Be amazed by the stars in our planetarium theater.  Learn some constellations and how to navigate with them.  Find out about light pollution and how to protect beautiful night skies.  Be inspired by astronomer Jean Creighton's story: she came a long way to reach for the stars.  It's Your Planet.

This program contributes to the Journey "It's Your Planet."

Night Owls

WHO: Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors
Look at the beautiful starry sky at our planetarium theater and learn to identify ten constellations and 8 bright stars. Find out how to protect the night sky from light pollution. Learn about our current space missions. Ask Jean Creighton your questions about space and about her career path to become an astronomer.

This program contributes to the Cadette Night Owl and the Senior Sky badges.

How to Register

Contact Jean Creighton at 414-229-4961 or stargaze@uwm.edu to register your troop for a particular date (or to request a different date). 10 business days before the program, send a check for the full amount payable to UWM with a note containing your name, the date and program you booked, your troop number, town/city with zip code, phone number(s) you can be reached at on the day of your visit, email address, and the number of girls and adults.

No refunds for cancellations after deadline (ten business days before the program).
