Birth of the Universe

Birth of the Universe will describe what we know about the beginning of the cosmos. The main focus of the program will be to present the evidence we have for the Big Bang theory, such as the cosmic microwave background radiation which is omnipresent throughout the universe, and the motion of galaxies which seem to be flying away from us. The audience will also have the opportunity to enjoy several late autumn constellations such as Pegasus and Orion projected on the dome.

Although Friday Night Shows are typically designed to be enjoyed by general audiences, due to the complexity of this topic this show is not intended for small children. Birth of the Universe is recommended for audiences 9 and up.

A 10-minute Q&A session will follow the show to answer any questions audience members may have.

First time at the planetarium?

Here's what you need to know! The UWM Planetarium is wheelchair accessible, but shows are not recommended for children under the age of five.

Tickets go on sale in the Physics building lobby about half an hour prior to the shows. Admission is $2 per person. Please bring singles! We do not accept credit cards.

Please arrive early to ensure seating, tickets are available on a first-come first-serve basis. The doors will be locked upon commencement of the program.
