Birth of the Universe

Cosmic Birth

January 25 – March 1, 2013
7:00-7:55 pm
Manfred Olson Planetarium, Physics building

Admission price: $2. Open to the public and free for members.

Birth of the Universe will describe what we know about the beginning of the cosmos. It will first explain some basic concepts and terms. The main focus of the program will be to present the evidence we have for the Big Bang theory, such as the cosmic microwave background radiation which is omnipresent throughout the universe, and the motion of galaxies which seem to be flying away from us. The audience will also have the opportunity to enjoy several winter constellations such as Pegasus and Orion projected on the dome.

A 10-minute Q&A session will follow the show for any questions audience members will have. Those interested in attending the event can obtain additional information about parking and directions at the UWM Planetarium's website, planetarium.uwm.edu. Please note the UWM Planetarium is wheelchair accessible and these shows are not recommended for children under the age of five. The planetarium is open to the public and general admission is $2.

The 7:00 pm show is on a first-come first-served basis. Tickets become available at 6:30 pm.
