Closing Event for the International Year of Astronomy

Show Time: 6:00 to 8:00 pm

With the International Year of Astronomy now over, we held a closing event similar to the kickoff event we held on January 10, 2009. Both events featured planetarium shows, stargazing, and hot beverages. The closing event on January 23 attracted over 80 visitors who chose between two planetarium shows—Northern Lights and Glorious Galaxies—with many attending both shows. As a special treat, winners of our AstroRaffle got the chance to select topics for future planetarium shows. One lucky girl proposed “Shooting Stars”, which will be presented this summer, and another winner proposed “Comets” for the spring of 2011.

The legacy of the International Year of Astronomy lives on. We are planning to host popular regular programs and special events in 2010 and we hope see you at the UWM Planetarium to share with us your interest in the cosmos.
