Two suspects arrested for Robberies in Shorewood
On Saturday November 7, 2009, two robberies were reported in the Village of Shorewood during a twenty minute span and about nine blocks apart.
The first Strong Armed Robbery occurred in the area of Maryland Avenue and Stratford Court at about 5:13 p.m. Three non affiliated males were confronted by the two male suspects. One of the suspects obtained money from the victims and one of the victims was punched in the face. The two suspects were last seen running north.
The second Armed Robbery, implied weapon, occurred at Maryland Avenue and Kensington Boulevard at about 5:31 p.m. Two non-affiliated women were approached by the two suspects. One of the suspects demanded money and cell phones and threatened to shoot the two women. The victims gave the suspects their cell phones and money and fled the area.
One suspect was taken into custody by Shorewood officers while he was boarding a bus at Cramer St. and Capitol Drive. The second suspect fled the bus, but was taken into custody a short time later with the assistance of Whitefish Bay, Glendale and UW-Milwaukee Police Officers.
The two non affiliated juvenile suspects have been referred to the Milwaukee County Children’s Center.
Suspect arrested in Bolton Hall Burglary and Battery
On September 23rd at 9:01 p.m., a staff member reported that he discovered two men stealing property from his unlocked office in Bolton Hall room 567. The staff member tried to hold one of the suspects for police, but the suspect hit him and they both fled the area. The two suspects were recorded by the Bolton Hall surveillance cameras as they fled the area.
On October 4th at 4:36 p.m., two UW-Milwaukee Police Officers on patrol observed two individuals walking on campus who matched the description and surveillance photos of the suspects in the Bolton Hall Burglary and Battery. The two suspects were subsequently arrested and UWM keys and other property was recovered that they had in their possession. Criminal charges are pending.
The case is still under investigation and the two suspects may be linked to other burglaries on the campus. A third suspect is being sought.
Three Suspects Arrested in an Attempted Bicycle Theft at the Sandburg Hall bike rack
On Wednesday, August 18th, 2009 UWM Police observed three subjects traveling towards the Sandburg bicycle racks on two bicycles. One of the subjects had a backpack with what appeared to be a set of bolt cutters sticking out of it. The three subjects were stopped, interviewed, and subsequently arrested for attempted theft. The UWM Police are investigating if the bicycles found in possession of the subjects were stolen. The UWM Police is asking for your help with reporting suspicious activity near bicycle racks around campus.
