Armed Robbery 2864 N. Oakland Ave. (Shiraz Market)

On Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 8:32 p.m., a suspect walked into Shiraz Market, displayed a six inch knife, and demanded money and cigarettes.  The employee complied with the demands.  The suspect obtained cash and cigarettes and fled east on E. Locust Ave.

The suspect is described as follows:

Male/Black, 30-40 years of age, 6' 0" in height.
He was last seen wearing black jeans, a black hoodie, and a white glove on his left hand.
A 6 inch knife was displayed during this robbery.

The City of Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this armed robbery.  

 

Three Armed Robberies reported south of campus on November 10 between 12:35 a.m. and 1:15 a.m.

 

On Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at about 12:35 a.m., a non-affiliated man was walking southbound in the 3000 block of N. Oakland Ave. (Oakland and Linnwood) when a suspect  approached him and told him to get down on the ground.  The man complied and two other suspects approached him.  The man had nothing of value on his person and the suspects fled the scene.  
 
At about 12:43 a.m., two men, a male UWM student and a non-affiliated man, were standing outside of their residence in the 1600 block of E. Linnwood Ave.  (Bartlett and Linnwood) when they saw three suspects emerge from in between a gangway of a house just slightly north of their location.  Two of the suspects pointed handguns and one of the suspects threatened the two men.  The suspects obtained a wallet, cell phone and CD player and ran from the scene.
 
At 1:15 a.m., a non-affiliated man was in the 2400 block of N. Oakland Ave (Oakland and Greenwich) when several suspects approached him, took his keys, and fled the area.  
 
A weapon was displayed in all three robberies.
 
The suspects were described as follows:
 
Suspect #1- Black or Hispanic male, approx 6”00” tall, wearing black and white shirt, displayed silver handgun.

Suspect #2-  Black male, 6’0”.

Suspect#3-  White or Hispanic male, 5’06’’, displayed silver handgun.
 
Suspect#4-  White male, 6’00’’, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a ski mask.
 
The City of Milwaukee Police Department is investigating these armed robberies.
 
The UWM Police Department would like to remind everyone to be cautious when walking during the late afternoon and evening.  Please remain alert and do not distract yourself by talking on a cell phone or listening to an iPod.  We recommend that you cooperate and turn over any valuables. Attempt Armed Robbery 2613 N. Oakland Ave.

 

On Friday November 6, 2009 at about 7:30 p.m., a male (not affiliated with UWM) was walking in the 2600 block of N. Oakland Ave. when he was approached by a black male suspect.  The black male suspect grabbed the victim's left shoulder, spun him around and asked, "Where's your money?"  He then struck the victim on top of his head with a bottle causing a 2" laceration and causing the victim to fall the ground.  He then patted the victim's pants pockets and left without obtaining anything.  An unknown male stood by as a lookout. There is no additional information on the description of these suspects at this time.The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this attempt armed robbery.

Strong Armed Robbery Locust and Farwell

 
On Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 11:07 p.m., a male UWM student was walking eastbound on Locust at Farwell when he was punched on the side of the face and fell to the ground.  The suspect punched and kicked the victim several more times and demanded his money.  The suspect fled the area after obtaining cash and a cell phone from the victim.
 
The suspect is described as follows:
 
Male/Black, 20 years of age, 5' 8" in height, facial hair.
He was last seen wearing a white shirt and white pants.
No weapon was displayed or implied during this robbery.

Armed Robbery 2600 Block N. Farwell Avenue (Farwell and E. Belleview)

 

On Monday, November 2, 2009 at approximately 3:25 p.m., a female UWM student was walking Southbound on Farwell Avenue when she was approached from behind by a suspect who put a sharp object to her throat and demanded her backpack. The suspect ran Northbound on Farwell after taking the backpack.
The suspect is described as follows:
Light skinned black male, early 20's, medium build, long black pony tail tied back
Last seen wearing blue hooded sweat shirt w/white stripes down both sleeves, black pants and black Reebok tennis shoes

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this armed robbery.

Armed Robbery 3301 N. Oakland      

(Open Pantry store at Oakland and Hartford)

 

On Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 2:30 a.m., three suspects entered the Open Pantry store at Oakland and Hartford.  One suspect walked behind the counter, pointed a pair of scissors at the cashier, demanded money and removed the money drawer from the cash register.  The three suspects fled the store with the money drawer and were last seen driving west on Hartford Avenue. 
The suspects were described as follows:
Suspect #1- Black male, early 20’s, 5’7’’-5’8’’, 150lbs, Short hair, small mustache, wearing a tan shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes.  Suspect was also carrying a women’s Coach purse.

Suspect #2- Black male, early 20’s, 6’3’’-6’4’’, 240-250lbs, wearing a black baseball cap with a long brown wig on, also wearing a black long sleeve shirt and black pants.

Suspect#3-  Black male, late 20’s to early 30’s, 6’00’’, 200-220lbs, wearing a black sweatshirt and a UWM winter cap.  Suspect was also believed to have bad acne.
 
The vehicle was described as a small dark compact car.
 
The City of Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this armed robbery. 
 

 

Armed Robbery (weapon implied) 3301 N. Oakland       

                                                       

On Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 2:45 a.m., two suspects entered the Open Pantry store at Oakland and Hartford.  While one suspect made a purchase, the second suspect walked behind the counter and demanded that the store employee open the cash register.    This suspect implied he had a weapon.  The two suspects fled the store with an unknown amount of money and were last seen driving in a northbound direction on Bartlett Avenue. 

Suspect #1:  Male/Black, thin build, last seen  wearing a black sweatshirt with an white shirt underneath and black pants.  This suspect may be armed with a handgun.

Suspect #2:  Male/Black, 5’09” tall, last seen wearing a brown and white plaid shirt and jeans.

The City of Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this armed robbery.  

 

Strong Armed Robbery 2400 Block of N. Stowell St. (Stowell and Bradford)

 

On Monday, October 26, 2009 at about 6:00 p.m., a UWM student was in the 2400 block of N. Stowell Street when he was approached from behind by three suspects and hit in the head. The suspects searched his pockets, removed cash, an IPod and a cell phone and fled the area.   

The three suspects were described as black males in their late teens to early twenties.  

The City of Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this armed robbery. 

The UWM Police Department would like to remind everyone to be cautious when walking during the late afternoon and evening.  If possible, walk in a group. If confronted by an assailant who demands money, comply with the demands to avoid getting injured.

 

Several armed robberies occurred near the Kenilworth Square Apartments between Sunday, October 25, 2009 and Monday October 26, 2009.

 

On Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 6:15am, in the 1900 block of North Oakland Avenue, a female was approached by two black male subjects, one of the subjects displayed a handgun and demanded valuables.  The suspects took the victim's valuables and fled on foot.

On Monday, October 26, 2009 at 12:50am, in the 1900 block of North Oakland Avenue, two females were approached by two black males subjects, both of the subjects displayed handguns and demanded valuables. The suspects took the victim's valuables and fled on foot.

On Monday, October 26, 2009 at 1:15am, in the 2200 block of East Greenwich Avenue, two females were approached by two black males subjects, one of the subjects displayed a handgun and demanded valuables. The suspects took the victim's valuables and fled on foot.

The suspects in these cases were all described as late teens/early 20's, 5'5"-6'2"" tall, 150-180lbs, average build, armed with handguns.

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating these cases.  The UWM Police Department would like to remind anyone who might become a victim of a robbery to cooperate and turn over any valuables. Armed Robbery 2900 Block of North Cramer Street (Near E. Linnwood Ave.)

 

On Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 12:55 a.m. two females were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 2900 block of N. Cramer St. when they were approached by a male subject who opened the driver's side door, placed a hard object into the driver's side, and demanded their money.

The victims complied with the suspects demands and the suspect fled north on N. Cramer St. Taken in the robbery were the victim's purses and cash. Neither of the victims were harmed and they immediately notified police. The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this case.

The suspect was described as follows:

Black Male

6'0" Tall

Average Build

Short Hair

Last Seen Wearing a black short sleeve t-shirt and a pants

 

 

Strong Armed Robbery 2000 E. Kenwood Blvd.  

 

On Sunday, October 18, 2009 at about 12:00 a.m., a male UWM student was walking westbound on E. Kenwood Blvd., when he was approached from behind by three black males. One of the suspects punched the victim causing him to fall to the ground. The suspects continued to kick and punch the victim and then removed his wallet.  The suspects fled in an unknown direction from the scene. There is no additional description of the suspects. The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this strong armed robbery.

Attempted Armed Robbery 2221 N. Farwell Avenue (Bus shelter at N. Farwell and E. North Ave.)

 

On Monday, September 28, 2009 at 9:20 a.m., a non-affiliated female was standing at the bus shelter at N. Farwell and E. North when she was approached by a white male suspect who produced a knife and demanded money.  An unknown male arrived at the bus shelter and challenged the suspect, who fled in an unknown direction without obtaining any property.

The suspect is described as follows: 

Male/white

35 to 40 years of age

5’10”-5’11” in height with a slender build

Short brown unkempt hair with a graying beard and mustache

Last seen wearing blue jeans and a brown and white flannel shirt


The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this armed robbery.

Armed Robbery 2400 block N. Murray Avenue (Intersection of N. Murray Ave. and E. Bradford Ave.)

 

On Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 12:30 a.m., a 19 year old student and a 21 year old non student were robbed in the 2400 block of N. Murray Avenue.  The two victims were sitting on a stoop at a residence in the 2400 block of N. Murray Avenue when they were approached by the two suspects, one of whom pointed a revolver at them and demanded money.   The suspects obtained cash, a wallet, cell phones and a black bag with white polka dots and fled in an unknown direction.

The suspects are described  as follows: 

Suspect #1:  Male/Black, 6'0 tall, average build, black t-shirt, blue jeans, corn rows in hair, dark complexion, carrying a revolver.

Suspect #2:  Male/Black, 5'10 tall, medium build, black/blue/white hooded sweatshirt, was carrying a black bag with white polka-dots that was taken from victim.

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this armed robbery.

 Armed Robbery at 2500 block of N. Lake Drive (Intersection of N. Lake Drive and and E. Bradford)

 

On Sunday, September 20, 2009 at 9:38 p.m., a 25 year old female was robbed in the 2500 block of N. Lake Drive. The victim was walking on N. Lake Drive when she was approached by the suspect who sprayed her with a pepper spray or mace type product and then tried to take her purse. The victim held on to her purse, but the suspect was able to take a laptop computer the victim was carrying. The suspect was last seen running southbound on N. Lake Drive.

 

The suspect is described as follows: 

Black male, 22 to 25 years of age, 6'0" in height, 185 lbs. with a muscular build, black hair, brown eyes and clean shaven. Last seen wearing a red tee shirt.

 

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this armed robbery. If you are a victim of a robbery, it is recommended that you cooperate and turn over your property. No amount of property is worth becoming injured over.

 

 

Attempted Strong Armed Robbery E. North Avenue Near N. Humboldt Blvd.  

 

On Sunday, September 20, 2009 at about 9:15 p.m., two female UWM students were walking eastbound on E. North Avenue when they were approached by a male on a bicycle who demanded their money. One of the victims refused and the suspect punched her in the eye, breaking her glasses.  One of the victims ran eastbound and the three suspects chased her. The victim was able to get away. The suspects did not obtain anything from the victims and were last seen riding their bikes northbound on N. Humboldt Blvd. from the scene. 

 

The three suspects are described as follows:

Suspect #1: Male, Black, 5'6-5'8, 160 pounds, short facial hair, unknown hairstyle, Wearing a hoodie, black and yellow shirt, dark jeans, Last seen riding a BMX style bicycle

Suspect #2; Male, Black, light skinned, Wearing black sweatshirt with an orange large strip with unknown lettering, red jogging pants, Last seen riding mountain style bike

Suspect #3: Male, Black, Unknown description last seen riding 10 speed bicycle

 

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating this attempted strong armed robbery.
