Chiller Start, Stop and Operating Temperatures Procedure

The normal chilling season runs from April through November.

Between the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM except Sundays and Holidays
Start a chiller when the outside temperature reaches 52 Deg
Shut chiller down when outside temperature reaches 51Deg.

Any time (including Sundays and Holidays) the chillers are off and the outside temperature reaches 57 Deg. Start a chiller.
Shut chiller down when outside temperature reaches 56 Deg. (Unless conditions stated above require that you continue chilling)

Each day of the chilling season, the Operator-In Charge on 1st shift should check the weather forecast at 5:00 AM. The forecasted high temperature for the day must be logged in the plant log and on the chiller log sheet.

If the High temperature for the day is 80 deg. or warmer.
Start up a second chiller at 57 deg., but no later than 7:30 AM.
Shut down second chiller as load permits.

Within one hour of the time the outside temperature reaches 57 deg F. chiller/chillers should be on line and down to temperature. To accomplish this it may be necessary to anticipate what the outside air temp will be and start putting chillers on line early. As outside air temp approaches 57 deg F. it should be checked every 15 minutes.
