Green Roofs & Landscaping
UWM, although a dense urban campus, still maintains green space, a native forest, and green roofs to expand and replicate natural systems.Green roofs and sustainable, environmentally friendly landscaping are important to maintain wildlife habitat & native species, as well as reduce the heat island index, stormwater runoff, and the need for chemical applications.Both large scale and pilot programs currently exist at UWM, as well as habitat area that is preserved under conservation easement.
