Carpenter Shop

The carpenter shop performs all the carpentry on campus including installing moldings, baseboards, door frames and doors, partitions, floors, ceilings and windows. The carpenters also build custom cabinets, bookcases and shelving. They also install and repair door hardware.

Electric Shop

The electric shop is responsible for all wiring, repairing and maintenance of electrical systems on campus. They are responsible for all lighting equipment and circuits; they maintain signal systems, fire alarms, clocks and security systems. Our Electricians maintain high voltage distribution equipment underground and substation equipment as well as motors, controllers and lighting and power distribution panels

Paint Shop

The Paint shop is responsible for the interior and exterior painting on campus. They paint walls, ceilings floors and hanging wall coverings as well as staining and varnishing doors, windows and natural wood surfaces. The painters prepare, prime and tape drywall. They are capable of spray painting surfaces if required, as well as sand or water blasting.</ td <>

Mechanical Shop
Mechanical Shop

The Mechanical shop consists of plumbers and steamfitters and is responsible for all plumbing, heating, venting and air conditioning systems on campus. The plumbers maintain and remodel all air, gas, potable water and treated water systems as well as the sanitary, storm and acid waste systems. The plumbers repair plumbing fixtures and clear drains of stoppages. Our steamfitters are responsible for maintaining and repairing environmental control systems and consist of steamfitters, control specialists and refrigeration specialists. The control specialists maintain and repair the pneumatic, electronic and web based systems that control the heating and cooling systems. The refrigeration specialist maintains and repairs refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Facility Repair Shop

Our Facilities shop workers make a variety or repairs to buildings and grounds. They replace window shades, repair seating and also install and repair masonry projects including concrete floor repairs, sidewalk repairs and building block walls. The facility shop also consists of our locksmith. The locksmith repairs, replaces and adjusts all lock and door hardware, safes, vaults and assists with our access control systems. The locksmith is also responsible for fabricating and cataloging keys.

Preventive Maintenance Shop

The preventive maintenance shop is entirely responsible for the scheduled preventive maintenance of multiple building systems on campus. They maintain HVAC equipment and perform coil maintenance; they service the out of reach light fixtures, emergency generators, fountains and fire alarm systems. The preventive maintenance shop also fabricates and installs campus signs.

Engineering Specialists

The engineering specialists are responsible for all construction and repair projects being done by outside contractors. They coordinate Physical Plant Services and Department of State Facilities projects. They inspect, report, and coordinate repairs to building envelopes. They also supervise the operation of the Metasys (HVAC) monitoring system. The engineering specialists design specifications and draft agency requests for various campus maintenance projects.
