Assessment was done on Microsoft Office 365 and Google Apps for Education in the following general categories:

  • Email/Calendar
  • Collaboration Platform
  • Accessibility
  • Application Administration
  • Infrastructure Integration
  • Identity and Access Management
  • Application Integration
  • Security and Privacy
  • Contractual Terms and Conditions
  • Support
  • Cost

Each of these categories was evaluated by different teams of individuals from our campus community.  After the evaluation period, team members submitted reports of their assessments.

An additional important component of this evaluation was feedback from our campus community. We invited vendor representatives to campus to provide a demonstration of the two products. After these demonstrations a campus survey was initiated to collect feedback.

These demonstrations were open to any campus community member and no advanced reservation was required.

At the end of the evaluation and feedback period, all of the information obtained was compiled and presented to the Chancellor’s Cabinet in early January for their decision.
