UWM Infrastructure Program Projects
The UWM Infrastructure Program projects will replace UWM’s aging core network equipment which is no longer supported by the vendor and is critical to the continued operation of the campus wired and wireless network, and the delivery of IT services.
Project Work
In addition to replacement of the core network equipment, the campus network will also be reconfigured to provide a more flexible and stable environment providing a higher level of quality service.
Benefits from the work done during the UWM IT Infrastructure Program include:
- Increased flexibility and stability with the new network design
- Ability to support the campus expansion of UWM WiFi
- Enhanced network security providing additional protection of confidential data
- Required infrastructure for the second data center implementation which will be used, in part, as additional secure space to house research servers
-
Additional redundancy of University IT services for improved business continuity
Impact on IT Services
As new equipment is installed and the network is reconfigured, there will be short timeframes when IT services are interrupted. Work is being scheduled to ensure that these service interruptions cause the least possible disruption for the campus community. For more information, click on the Project Work Schedule link.
