In the Peck School of the Arts, everyone -- students, faculty and
staff -- is in the creativity business. Each year, we host projects
that transcend departmental boundaries or provide support for projects
that have the potential to tour. These projects are often interdisciplinary
and bring together faculty, students and nationally-recognized guest
artists. They add another layer to the creative activity occurring
each day in our classrooms, studios, galleries, screening rooms and
performance spaces.
We are currently deep into two exciting projects.
Art, Faith and Social Justice is a year-long collaboration, beginning
in fall 2005,
with choreographer Ronald K. Brown and his company, Evidence and
several local institutions, including Alverno Presents and Marquette
University. Triadic Memories is a project that began a year ago
when photographer Steven Foster, pianist Louis Goldstein, and writer
Clark
Lunberry came together to celebrate composer Morton Feldman. The
exhibit of Foster’s photographs, Goldstein’s performance
of Feldman’s Triadic Memories, and Lunberry’s talk
on Feldman, Foster, time, memory and perception is now available
for
export to other venues.
The Peck School of the Arts is home to several
music ensembles, including the Fine Arts Quartet, that are available
for performances
in Wisconsin
and beyond. Information on touring ensembles will be added as
opportunities arise.
