Workshops: 11am - 1pm
Pizza party and Raffle: 1pm-2pm
Attention First Year Students (including transfers)!
Have you wanted to learn how to create animated characters, cool jewelry, build your own camera, do printmaking, do Xerox transfer processes, learn mud stenciling? Or would you like to help create a large piece that will be exhibited in the Milwaukee Art Museum?
First Year Students in Art and Design (transfer students or non-majors currently taking art courses) choose from over a dozen workshops in digital media, fibers, printmaking, metals, sculpture, ceramics, photography and more led by Art + Design faculty and advanced students. Meet and have fun with your fellow arts-focused classmates, student organization leaders, local art suppliers and faculty.
You will have a chance to enter a drawing for great prizes from local art suppliers and businesses and get to know some hidden spaces in the Art + Design Department. Hundreds of $ in prizes and pizza!
Sign up available outside Mitchell 327 by Wednesday Oct. 7th at 5pm

"Artathon is an annual event that gives Art and Design first year and transfer students a very different perspective on what is possible as an art or design major. This event is not only fun, but also a great way for students to meet other future art and design majors, upper level students, art suppliers, and faculty. The prizes and art supply gift certificates given out this past year at our pizza party were incredibly generous too, over $1000 in gift certificates and gifts. In fact, every student came away with bags of free art supplies, thanks to Dick Blick Art Supply
Students were amazed by what they gained and they liked feeling a part of something larger – a community of artists and designers. It is a not-to-be-missed event for all first year students.
Special thanks to our local art supplier, Dick Blick, as well as our own UWM Union Arts and Craft Center for their generous support of, and participation in, this event."
