Art-a-Thon
Friday, October 7, 2011
Attention Pre-Art Students!
Have you wanted to learn how to animate a character you invent using Photoshop? Or make monotype screen prints or a pinhole camera? Do you know what a phenakistoscope is and how to make one? Choose from almost two-dozen workshops in painting, drawing, fibers, printmaking, metals, sculpture and photography from Art + Design faculty. Meet and have fun with your fellow arts-focused classmates. You will have a chance to enter a drawing for great prizes from local art suppliers and learn about student-run organizations in the Art + Design Department.

"Artathon is an annual event that gives Art and Design new foundations students a very different perspective on what is possible as an art or design major. This event is not only fun, but also a great way for students to meet other future art and design majors, upper level students, art suppliers, and faculty. The prizes and art supply gift certificates given out this past year at our pizza party were incredibly generous too, over $2000 in gift certificates and gifts. In fact, every student came away with bags of free art supplies.
Students were amazed by what they gained and they liked feeling a part of something larger – a community of artists and designers. It is a not-to-be-missed event for all Foundations students.
Special thanks to Artist and Display and Utrecht Art Supply, as well as our own UWM Union Arts and Craft Center for their generous support of, and participation in, this event."
