Kathryn Martin-Meurer

Kathryn E. Martin-Meurer is the Visual Art Recruitment Coordinator and Associate Lecturer at University of Wisconsin –Milwaukee (UWM), teaching in Foundations and Sculpture. She received a BFA in Sculpture and Art History from The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, and an MA and MFA from UWM in InterMedia Studies. She has exhibited extensively, in solo and group shows throughout the United States. With a focus on observing everyday, often overlooked objects, Martin-Meurer concentrates on the object’s formal characteristics and makes instinctive and calculated decisions to dissect, interpret, repeat and re-assemble the parts into a whole. In doing so, she constantly changes inherent functions and makes visible the invisible in her often, large scale, site-specific installations. In addition to studio and gallery based work, martin-meurer works in the realms of Public Art and Exhibition Design.p>
