Admission to the Department of Dance is contingent on acceptance to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Passing the dance entrance audition is required for entrance into the Dance BA, both the Dance BFA Contemporary and Africa and the Diaspora Tracks, and the Inter-Arts Dual Discipline Track. Auditions are typically scheduled four times a year on Saturdays. If unsuccessful, students may re-audition, but are limited to auditioning twice per academic year. Further information concerning the admission requirements and upcoming audition dates may be obtained by calling the Dance Office at 414-229-2571.
Transfer students must complete a minimum of half of the required dance credits while in residence at UWM in order to graduate. The exact total is available upon admission to the program. Transcript evaluation by a dance advisor is required before placement into dance major courses.
However, if a student has been admitted to another institution’s dance program, and wishes to attend UW-Milwaukee’s Dance Program instead, the following materials must be submitted for dance faculty consideration: a copy of the admission letter from the other university’s dance program, work sample that includes 5-10 minute video of technique class and 2-3 minute video of performance and/or choreography (DVD preferred), work sample description, statement of purpose, and transcripts if transferring after enrolling at another institution. All applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and must be submitted by July 1 for fall admission and December 1 for spring admission.
The entrance audition is required to be considered for Dance Incoming Student Scholarship.
