2013-2014 Undergraduate Entrance Audition Dates

Saturday, November 9: 11-3:30pm
Friday, February 7: 11-3:30pm
Friday, April 18: 11-3:30pm
Saturday, May 31: 11-3:30pm

Passing the Dance Entrance Audition is required for entrance into the Dance BA, both the Dance BFA Contemporary and Africa & the Diaspora Tracks, and the Inter-Arts Dual Discipline Track. Auditions are typically scheduled four times a year on Fridays or Saturdays. If unsuccessful, students may re-audition, but are limited to auditioning twice per academic year.

To RSVP for a specific entrance audition date, please access online form here. Also required for the audition is an unofficial copy of the high school transcript, sent by email to dance-prosp@uwm.edu by the Wednesday prior to the chosen audition date. For further questions about the undergraduate admissions process, please call the Dance Office at 414-229-2571.

Transfer students must complete a minimum of half of the required dance credits while in residence at UWM in order to graduate. The exact total is available upon admission to the program. Transcript evaluation by a dance advisor is required before placement into dance major courses.

Video Audition

However, if a student has been admitted to another institution’s dance program, cannot attend the required entrance audition, and wishes to attend UW-Milwaukee’s Dance Program instead, the following materials must be submitted for dance faculty consideration:

  • Work Sample DVD or URLs: must include 5-10 minutes of technique class, and 2-3 minutes of performance/choreography (solo preferred). URLs should be included in the Online Survey (see below); DVDs must be submitted to the Dance Office in Mitchell 345.
  • Online Survey that collects a variety of information, including a Statement of Purpose (why are you choosing to pursue dance at UW-Milwaukee), your Contact Information, Educational and Artistic History, and Work Sample Descriptions. Access here.
  • College transcripts (unofficial is fine) if transferring from another university and copy of the admission letter if available.

All video applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and must be submitted by July 1 for fall admission and December 1 for spring admission. The entrance audition is required to be considered for Dance Incoming Student Scholarship.
