Passing the Dance Entrance Audition (On-Campus or Video) is required for entrance into the Dance BA or BFA degree programs. If unsuccessful, students may re-audition, but are limited to auditioning twice per academic year (via any method).
Transfer students must complete a minimum of half of the required dance credits while in residence at UWM in order to graduate. The exact total is available upon admission to the program. Transcript evaluation by a dance advisor is required before placement into dance major courses.
Admission to the Department of Dance is contingent on acceptance to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

2014-15 On-Campus Entrance Audition Dates
Friday, February 27 (Fall 2015)
On-Campus auditions consist of a variety of technique classes, writing sample, one-minute solo performance (can be self-choreographed) and Q&A session. Auditions after the last campus audition will be by appointment or via video submission.
To RSVP for a specific audition date, prospective students must:
a) Complete the online form, including writing sample and educational and artistic history.
b) Submit separate copies of high school and/or college transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable for this purpose). Transcripts should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org or UWM Dance Admission, PO Box 413, Milwaukee, WI 53201.
UWM priority application deadline is March 1. Dance Incoming Student Scholarships are awarded based on the entrance audition’s technique classes, writing sample and performance, and are faculty-nominated. Scholarships may not be available after the UWM priority application deadline (March 1).
Video Audition for 2015 Entry
Video Audition (only with prior authorization via email to email@example.com) consists of online form with writing sample, 5 min each of two contrasting dance techniques and 2-3 minutes of performance video (DVD or URL in online form). Video submission of online form and all supporting materials are due 4 weeks prior to the start of the requested semester.
To apply via the video audition process (after authorization), prospective students must:
a) Complete the online form, including writing sample, educational and artistic history, and work sample descriptions and URLs.
b) Submit separate copies of their high school and/or college transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable for this purpose). Transcripts and/or DVDs should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org or UWM Dance Admission, PO Box 413, Milwaukee, WI 53201.
Dress code for Audition (On-Campus or Video)
Technique class clothing must be form-fitting in solid colors only, and cover the full torso and leg to the knee. Undergarment support required as appropriate (dance belts or tight-fitting briefs for men, supportive bras for women). Footwear requirements as appropriate (ballet slippers, tap or jazz shoes, etc). Be prepared to dance barefoot during the modern and/or African-Caribbean portions of the audition.
