Tom Ryan studied economics in college and went on to study acupuncture and traditional far eastern medicine at the East West Foundation in Boston. He completed certification as an AODA counselor at the Johnson Institute in Minneapolis where he also trained in the application of yoga and meditation modalities in AODA treatment and recovery. Tom has maintained an acupressure and somatics education practice for the past many years. He designed and headed up the integrative and alternative medicine program at Columbia hospital. While there, he was trained in experiential neuro-cardiology as a stress management modality. Tom currently teaches Dance 370, World Movement Traditions (t'ai chi) and Dance 220, Body Sense at UWM. He is a stress management consultant with Wilson Heartcare and does pain management training in a behavioral medicine clinic. Tom's hobbies include golf, jazz, piano, and vibraphone. He has four grandchildren whom he insists are the smartest, most talented, and wonderful kids ever. While adamant, he is open to debate…
