Cecelia Condit is an artist/storyteller who creates contemporary fairy tales in video, installation and photography. She has received grants from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the American Film Institute and the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation's Mary L. Nohl Fund. Condit’s work is in many prestigious collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Centre Georges Pompidou Musee National d'Art Moderne Paris, France. Her work has focused on the relationship between women and their lovers, mothers, families and friends. In 2012, she completed a video and photographic installation, “Within a Stone’s Throw,” in which the artist appears walking across rocks, climbing berms, and throwing stones. Within a Stone’s Throw plays with the unfolding of human and geologic time, and probes the connections and displacements that exist between ourselves and the natural world. Condit is also the director of the graduate program in film and teaches introduction to video editing, an elective class called “Dreams,” “From Script to Screen” and “Performance and Movement Collaborations” which she co-teaches with a faculty from the Dance Department.
