This exhibition features work by UWM Peck School of the Arts alumnae Jan Serr as she explores figurative painting. Known primarily for her landscapes and still lives, Serr's work has been exhibited and collected in the United States and Canada. Serr's work has also been exhibited in the Art in Embassies program organized by the U.S. Department of Sate. But Serr's earliest paintings in the 1970's were of people. She continued figurative work over the last four decades, though the work was rarely if ever exhibited. The INOVA exhibition will survey Serr's earlier work, and will include a large group of new figurative paintings, created specifically for this exhibition.
