Adjunct Professor, Bassoon

Beth Giacobassi, bassoon, was appointed to play contrabassoon and bassoon with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in 1982. In the fall of 2001, she became adjunct bassoon professor at UW-Milwaukee. The same year she became principal bassoonist of the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra and acting assistant principal in the Milwaukee Symphony. Since 1994, she has been the bassoonist for the Washington Island Music Festival. Other music festivals include: Colorado Music Festival, Bedford Springs Music Festival, Ohio Light Opera Company and Berea Summer Theatre. She has been a winner of the University of Michigan and Green Bay Young Artists Concerto Competitions and has soloed with the Milwaukee Symphony, UW-Parkside Wind Ensemble, and UW-Milwaukee Wind Ensemble. Her training includes study with Hugh Cooper at the University of Michigan where she received a Bachelor of Music degree, and George Goslee of the Cleveland Orchestra. In addition to her teaching responsibilities at UW-Milwaukee Beth coaches students in the Milwaukee Youth Symphony and teaches privately.
