Lecturer, Music Education
Catherine “Kate” G. Robertson, lecturer, joined the music education department in 2011. She teaches instrumental music methods courses and supervises student teachers. Earning her PhD from UW-Milwaukee in Urban Education – Curriculum and Instruction and Music Education, her research interests include mentoring and supporting novice teachers through professional learning communities and online networks. She has presented at state and national music education conferences and is a member of Instrumental Music Teacher Educators (IMTE). Ms. Robertson currently has publications in press with the Journal of Research in Music Education and Update: Applications of Research in Music Education. She is the author of Confessions of a First-Year Maestro: A Guide to your First-Year of Teaching (GIA Publications). Before teaching at the collegiate level, she was a high school band and strings director in south-eastern Wisconsin for seven years.
