Kerry Bieneman holds a Bachelor of Music degree (magna cum laude) in Vocal Performance from Lawrence University and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Northwestern University. She is an active pianist and singer throughout southeastern WI. Ms. Bieneman has served as a private vocal coach and accompanist for Florentine Opera, Skylight Opera Theatre, Opera for the Young, Bel Canto Chorus, Milwaukee Rep, Waukesha Choral Union, and Northwestern University. At UWM, she teaches voice lessons to classical and musical theatre singers, co-teaches a song interpretation class for musical theatre majors, teaches a vocal jazz class, and is the music director for the opera.
Ms. Bieneman enjoys singing a variety of repertoire, including classical, musical theatre, and jazz. Her favorite roles include Jo (Little Women), Cherubino (The Marriage of Figaro), Hansel (Hansel and Gretel), Cathy (The Last Five Years), and Percy (The Spitfire Grill). She has sung with such companies as Florentine Opera, Skylight Opera Theatre, Milwaukee Opera Theatre, Opera for the Young, Bel Canto Chorus, and Waukesha Choral Union. Recently, Ms. Bieneman has sung the alto solos in numerous performances of Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Solemn Vespers, and the Bach Magnificat.
Ms. Bieneman was the recipient of two awards at the Wisconsin District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She has also received a Downbeat Award for her work as a jazz singer. She has been the Assistant Choral Director of the KIDS from Wisconsin for seven years. She enjoys serving as the music director, choir director, and pianist at Peace Lutheran Church in Burlington. Ms. Bieneman maintains a private voice and piano studio in her home.
