5th Annual Woody Herman Jazz Educational Workshop

Jazz Workshop – March 30, 2012, all day

Open to Middle and High School workshop participants

The Jazz Studies Program (Department of Music, Peck School of the Arts) and the Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra are collaborating to host the fifth annual Woody Herman Educational Jazz Workshop. Students will participate in clinics, master classes and full ensemble sessions and there will be special activities for ensemble directors. International guest artists Arturo O’Farrill and David Bixler will be participating in clinics and concerts.

Latin Jazz Clinic with Arturo O’Farrill – March 31, 2012, 5-6pm

The public and workshop participants are invited to attend.

On Saturday, March 31, the Jazz Studies Program offers school ensembles the opportunity to perform and have an interactive session with a jazz clinician. To give students some specific tools to take back to your school and their ensemble, there will be separate master classes for bass, piano, guitar, drums, and improvisation, as well as an interactive session for all ensembles with the Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra faculty.

Jazz Concert – March 31, 2012, 7:30pm

The Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra will perform, featuring artists Arturo O’Farrill and David Bixler. Opening set by the UWM Jazz Ensemble and UWM Youth Jazz Ensemble.

Prices include admission to the Jazz Workshop, Latin Jazz Clinic and Jazz Concert.

Middle School Jazz Ensembles – $195
High School Jazz Ensembles – $250
College/University Jazz Ensembles – $295

Jazz Workshop space is limited. Registration deadline is March 16, 2012.

Clinic and Concert Fees for the Public:

$20 for Saturday clinic, includes admission to concert at 7:30pm.

Concert-only Prices for the Public:

$22general / $15 seniors and UWM alumni, faculty and staff / $12 students.
