The UWM Department of Music Choirs invited eight area high schools to participate in the UWM Honors Choral Festival with guest clinician Dr. André Thomas on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. The event took place in the Helen Bader Concert Hall in the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts on the UWM campus.

This non-competitive choral music clinic and culminating "informance" provided an opportunity for students and their choral directors to:

• Rejuvenate through clinics with leading choral conductor and clinician Dr. André Thomas
• Polish choral singing techniques in clinic and rehearsal settings with Dr. Thomas and members of the UWM choral artist-faculty
• Hear eight high school choirs in clinic performance
• Perform Dr. Thomas' pieces en masse with other choir members and their conductors
• Network with other choral singers, musicians and conductors
• Celebrate their love of choral music

The day-long choral festival began with a thirty-minute individual clinic session with Dr. Thomas for each participating ensemble. Each choir performed one individual piece at the afternoon "informance" concert, in addition to participating in one or two combined numbers under the baton of Dr. Thomas.
