A Glass Bead Making Workshop with Heidi Lowe

Fee: $80 (includes materials)

Learn lampworking - the type of glassworking used to make beads - in this one day workshop with Heidi Lowe. Lowe will teach the basic skills necessary to start making beads on your own. She will focus on safety, knowing equipment and understanding materials. You will learn about the glass, the importance of annealing beads, andhow to pull stringer and simple decorative cane, make basic shapes, and use decorative elements and tools. Each participant will make simple but beautiful beads using dots, stringer and encasing. Workshop is open to all levels; capacity is limited to 16.

About Heidi Lowe Heidi Lowe made her first ring in high school and has been hooked on metalsmithing ever since. After receiving degrees from Maine College of Art and the State University of New York, New Paltz, Lowe opened a contemporary jewelry studio and gallery in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Lowe currently makes jewelry, manages the gallery and teaches at Towson University.

Required Equipment
You must have a pair of safety glasses rated Z87+ to participate in any of the workshops. Safety glasses may be purchased at your local hardware store or Panther Bookstore, 3132 N. Downer Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53211, (414) 967-1111

Cancellations and Refunds
A full refund is issued to program participants if we cancel a workshop for any reason. We issue a full refund, less a $15 processing fee, for any cancellations received prior to 10 days before the start of your workshop. No refunds are issued if registration is cancelled less then 10 days prior to the date of the workshop.
