Welcome to the world of UWM Dance

At UW-Milwaukee Dance, our continued commitment to skillful performance, creative artistic individuality, and dynamic teacher training is producing students who are making impressive contributions to our profession locally and nationally. The Department of Dance offers BA, BFA, and MFA degree programs, as well as PK4-12 Teaching Certification. Our curriculum recently expanded to include a Musical Theatre component, and beginning in fall 2009 new curricular concentrations in Dance of the African Diaspora and an Inter-Arts in Dance will be available in the BFA degree program. Across the Peck School of the Arts, additional collaborative performing opportunities are growing within a scholastic environment of tremendous creativity, innovation, and national prominence.

The Dance Program at UWM is growing and our numerous achievements have been recognized by DANCE USA, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the American College Dance Festival Association. Our students are receiving recognition in the field as well. Last year, Dance BFA Mauriah Kraker was offered a contract with the internationally renowned Pilobolus Dance Company and other alums are dancing up a storm here in Milwaukee and in other major cities across the country. These young artists are the best evidence of our continued success at UWM in training technical and creative dance artists.

Training UWM dance artists is a faculty that is one of the most professionally skilled and diverse in the school or any school that I have ever come across. Take a look at the faculty biographies available on-line and prepare to be impressed!

Guest artists in the 2008-2009 school year include Uri Sands, David Parker, Eiko and Koma, Trey McIntyre and Christian Von Howard.
