The
Digital Imaging, Visualization, Animation and Sound [DIVAS]
is looking for self motivated, independent students who desire to
explore media and technology oriented production and theory at the
blurred boundaries of video, electronic music, visual art, web based
art, robotics, and programming. The program provides a structure
in which students engage with the profound changes taking place in
our culture due to advances and proliferation of digital technologies.
Students develop core concentrations from an array of courses categorized
as 2D, 3D, 4D, Programming and Theory+Context. Students complete
two independent/self-defined projects; a three credit junior project
and a capstone six credit senior project. The Digital Imaging,
Visualization, Animation and Sound [DIVAS] track is a collaboration
between the Departments of Visual Art, Film and Music. Associated
programs include the programs in Film Studies and Digita Arts and
Culture in the College of Letters and Sciences and programs in the
School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Students are encouraged
to combine the DIVAS degree with the Digital
Arts and Culture (DAC) Certificate Program. The certificate adds additional depth in the
study of the history, cultural context and impact of digital technology.
