Lindsay Gilmour

Lindsay Gilmour splits her time between Ithaca, NY where she is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Ithaca College and Brooklyn NY were she continues to perform and choreograph. She has worked with Pearson/Widrig Dance Theater since 2001 and with Yin Mei Dance since 2006. Her own work has been shown at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. , the Bumper Shoot Festival in Seattle, the Maya Angela Theater in Erie, PA, and small venues in New York and Ithaca. This Spring she is collaborating with a classically trained Indian dancer creating an evening length performance fusing contemporary western dance and classical Indian dance with live musicians. She is also beginning an annual site-specific dance series in Ithaca. She loves to share the joy of moving and has taught as a guest artist in universities in the U.S. as well as in communities in India, Thailand, Peru and Guatemala. Lindsay received her B.F.A. in Performance and Choreography from the University of Montana in 1998 and her M.A. from Columbia Universities School of International and Public Affairs in 2006 focusing on Tibetan Studies and Conflict Resolution. When not dancing she is often in India or Tibet leading educational programs or working of her little farm in upstate New York with her husband and animals!
