Yoko Hattori is a visual artist born in Hiroshima, Japan. Her work explores notions of cultural displacement, memories and skeins of thought where repressed consciousness finds expression. Yoko received her BFA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a focus in design. She then worked and traveled as a graphic designer for an international brand consultancy. She received the 2007 Award of Excellence from AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) Hawaii's 5-O Design Competition. In 2010, she received her MA with emphasis on design and printmaking at Minnesota State University — Mankato. In the same year, she was awarded the 2nd Place Honor at the 18th Annual Prairie Lakes Regional Juried Art Exhibition. Additionally, she exhibited her work throughout Minnesota; venues included the Carnegie Art Center, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the Minnesota Center for Book Arts. Currently, Yoko is pursuing her MFA degree at the Peck School of the Arts.
