Kate Martel is a dancer living in Brooklyn, NY. Originally from Amherst, MA, she earned her B.A. from Goucher College in Dance and Education. Since moving to New York, she has worked with several inspiring dance artists including Luis Lara Malvacias, Juliette Mapp, David Hurwith, Sarah White-Ayon, Nora Stephens/noranewdanceco, and Jessica Morgan. Kate’s choreography has been presented at RoofTop Dance, St. Cecilia’s and Dixon Place in NYC. She has also presented her dances in collaboration with the duet group fivefour/Cortney McGuire and Leah Nelson. Currently, Kate teaches Dance and Yoga at Western Connecticut State University and has been a member of Laura Peterson Choreography since 2007. She has been a guest teacher at the International Dance Conference in Bytom, Poland, Dance New Amsterdam, Dean College, Plymouth State University and Lehman College. Beginning in Summer 2012, Kate will be pursuing her MFA at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
