Jennifer received her BA in dance and her MA in Interdisciplinary Art from Columbia College / Chicago, and has worked as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher for over the past twelve years. Ms. Smith is the Artistic Director of the Chicago based performance group, Back & to the Left Productions, and has presented company work in Chicago, Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Milwaukee, as well as at the Fringe Festival for Independent Dance Artists in Toronto, Canada. In 2002 she was granted an artist residency the Atlantic Center for the Arts where she worked with New York based choreographer, Doug Elkins. Most recently she had an article published on "Developing Dance Curriculum" in Teaching Artists' Journal and is scheduled to present a work this summer at the International Performing Arts Festival in Avignon, France. She has been the director of the Knox College Dance Program for the past ten years.
