Jenny Wanasek has distinguished herself as an actress, director, and teacher, and is a recipient of The Excellence in Teaching Award from the UWM Alumni Association. She has acted with The Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Renaissance Theatreworks, The Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Next Act Theatre, First Stage, The Skylight Opera Theatre, among others. Favorite roles include Emily Dickinson in The Belle of Amherst, Mrs. Shubert in Shear Madness, Esther in The Price, Martha in Strange Snow, the title role in Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You. She has directed some 35 professional productions, the most recent being Lettice and Lovage with Renaissance Theatreworks. She trained for several years with Augusto Boal and is co-founder of The Center for Applied Theatre (CAT) which helps communities and organizations explore issues and test solutions using interactive theatre techniques. Jenny has facilitated workshops with youth, faculty, NGOs, community and professional organizations and has presented over hundreds of interactive performances in MPS on bullying, drug addiction, violence, and more.
