Theatre Scholarships

The Corliss Phillabaum Theatre Prize

The Phillabaum Theatre Prize will honor students with established records of excellence in the Department of Theatre. Awards range up to $1,000.00. Established in 2010 by an anonymous donor to provide assistance to undergraduate students majoring in theatre. Professor Emeritus Phillabaum taught theatre history in UWM's Department of Theatre from 1964 to 2004. The donor named the award in honor of Professor Phillabaum for his role inspiring students with the depth of theatrical traditions while teaching at UWM. Aware of the many hours demanded of students in the theatre program, and that many students need outside jobs as well to support their education, the donor wishes to provide ‘a little something extra to help out’ and encourage a new generation of theatre professionals.”

There are calls for applications in the fall and spring semesters.

The Cynthia Poulson Memorial Theatre Scholarship

The Cynthia Poulson Memorial Theatre Scholarships will honor students with established records of excellence in the Department of Theatre. Poulson to honor her role in teaching, inspiring, and mentoring students in the Theatre Department. She had an innate sense of fairness and fierce loyalty to all "under dogs" and made many contributions to a wide variety of causes and organizations in our community. Her life's work included a genuine enthusiasm for sports, animals, art, reading, and travel. Ms. Poulson was a highly respected Stage Manager among fellow professionals and was a dedicated member of USITT who made a daily habit of working the NEW YORK TIMES crossword puzzle—in ink!”
