Mission
The UW-Milwaukee School of Public Health conducts rigorous public health research and scholarship; educates the current and future public health workforce; and influences the development of strategies and policies that promote health among diverse populations.
General Information
UWM's School of Public Health is working to establish Milwaukee as a major contributor to public health scholarship, research, and education. The School of Public Health advances the understanding of health disparities; enhances the knowledge base, size, and diversity of the local public health workforce; informs and guides public health policy; and addresses community public health issues through effective partnerships with public and private organizations.
The Graduate Certificate in Public Health, Wisconsin's first certificate of it's kind, was launched in spring 2008 and has enjoyed strong enrollment. The PhD program in Environmental and Occupational Health is accepting students for fall 2009. The Masters of Public Health program and additional PhD programs in Community and Behavioral Health Promotion, Epidemiology, and Public Health Administration & Policy are in the planning stages and will be established in the coming years as UWM continues to design programs and recruit the finest faculty in order to achieve the goal of full accreditation in 2013.
