Building on the multidisciplinary nature and mission of public health, UWM's Zilber School of Public Health works with several UWM schools, programs and centers, as well as other academic institutions including the Medical College of Wisconsin and the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.

As UWM's Zilber School of Public Health and the City of Milwaukee Health Department continue to expand their relationship, they will develop Wisconsin's first Academic Health Department, a designation which signifies a close reciprocal relationship between a local health department and a school of public health. In this model, academia collaborates with its local official government public health agency in many ways which strengthen both and achieve a synergy and level of service and education that may not be possible when they work independently. In this vision, the senior professional staff of the local health agency provides the link to the community where community-based participatory research must occur and where practice-based learning occurs. The benefits for the agency and the school are many and tangible; so, too, are the benefits to the community and its citizens.

The Zilber School of Public Health is also proud to collaborate with the organizations, centers, and schools listed to the right.
