I am a third year Environmental and Occupational Health PhD student. I graduated from St. Norbert College in 2011 with a B. S. in Biology (Biomedical Concentration) and a minor in Chemistry. My general interests lie in public health microbiology, including cyanobacteria and harmful algal bloom monitoring, foodborne outbreaks and bioterrorism prevention. I am a Research Assistant in Dr. Todd Miller’s Laboratory of Aquatic Environmental Microbiology and Chemistry (www.toddrexmiller.com), investigating the occurrence of cyanotoxins in recreational lakes used for drinking water and the influences on cyanotoxin production. In my spare time, I volunteer for the South Milwaukee Lions Club, advise the teenage version of Lions — the SM Leos Club, and serve as the EOH representative for the Graduate Student Advisory Council (2012-2013 academic year).
