Laura is currently a graduate student in the Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health (ZSPH) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2004 with a comprehensive Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and Public Health. She began her career nine years ago with the Waukesha County Environmental Health Division, and she is currently working for the nationally accredited City of West Allis Health Department, as an Environmentalist II.
Laura is a first year student in the program, and is looking forward to beginning her Masters “career”. Her interests include foodborne and vector borne disease outbreaks, surveillance, as well as lead poisoning and prevention.
On a professional level, Laura is very active with the Wisconsin Environmental Health Association, and will be president of the organization in 2014. She is a Registered Sanitarian, Healthy Homes Specialist, and Certified Professional of Food Safety through the National Environmental Health Association. She also works very closely with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, and various other municipalities throughout the state.
Laura and her husband Jason live in Wauwatosa with their beautiful daughter, Hailey, and dog, Jordan.
